Craig-Ryan French is a versatile make-up artist with over a decade of experience in theatre, film, television, and fashion.

Some of his earliest experiences with make-up were as an actor studying in NYC. On-stage, he understood the importance of make-up to define a performer's features and to compensate for lighting and distance. However, it was backstage where he experimented with colours, textures, and products to discover how he could use these tools to manipulate shadow and light to alter his appearance and develop the mood of a character. Today, he still employs those early lessons learned backstage to sculpt a model's face for a high-fashion editorial, or utilize to create the illusion of a SPFX wound for a performer's face or body on film.

Since 2005, Craig-Ryan French has served as the Artistic Director and Global Make-up Artist for Parisian-based fashion house PAUL & JOE. He works closely with owner and designer Sophie Albou, and her creative team at Albion Cosmetics Co. (Japan). Working together with this leader in Japanese cosmetic manufacturing has allowed him to also participate in the creation and marketing of both Anna Sui and Sonia Rykiel Cosmetics for international distribution.

Each season, he participates backstage at Paris Fashion Week and his work has been featured in Elle, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and other leading industry publications. His unique and entertaining ability to discuss and share his techniques have taken him on a worldwide adventure where he has been invited to speak and instruct at some of the most recognized industry events and institutions around the globe.

Although New York, Paris, London, and Tokyo are some of his favorite cities, Craig-Ryan French chooses to call Toronto, Canada his home -- where he can usually be found among friends and family.
